The following slings have already arrived and will be available to try out (and hire) at our February meet (Monday 1st, 1-3pm):

Our birthday meet was a busy one! December 7, 2009
Posted by admin in : Uncategorized , comments closedThursday 3rd December saw our 1st birthday meet and we were very pleased to welcome our largest ever number of families to join us for our celebrations. Many of these families took slings away with them to try out over the festive period – we hope that you all enjoy using them! We would like to take this opportunity to wish all of you a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year and we look forward to seeing you at our first meet in 2010, on Monday 4th January.
Southampton Sling Meet is nearly 1 year old! November 11, 2009
Posted by admin in : Uncategorized , add a commentOur December meet marks our first birthday, and we will be having cake and non-alcoholic bubbly to celebrate! Our first ever meet in December 2008 was a very quiet affair, with only one mum and baby coming to see us. Since then, our meets have grown well beyond our expectations and we now have up to 30 families visiting each of our meets, with many hiring a sling to take home to try out for a month. We are thrilled with how well-attended the meets are now, and are looking forward to an even more successful 2nd year!
Our December meet takes place in Thursday 3rd, from 1pm until 3pm. We hope that you will be able to come and celebrate our birthday with us!
October meet October 13, 2009
Posted by admin in : Uncategorized , add a commentOur October Sling Meet was a slightly quieter affair than our recent meets, probably due to our International Babywearing Week event two weeks earlier. The smaller number of people present meant that we were able to spend more time with each individual, trying out a wider range of slings and giving more advice. The weather was lovely, which allowed the children to play in the secure outdoor area whilst the adults talked slings!
Our next meet takes place on November 2nd, from 1-3pm at The Windmill Children’s Centre. Hope to see you there!

Posted by admin in : Uncategorized , comments closedSouthampton Sling Meet joined forces with Portsmouth Sling Meet to celebrate International Babywearing Week 2009 with a special event on 21st September. The event was very well attended and we raised over £200 for our chosen charity, Best Beginnings.
We would like to thank our very generous supporters:
OnBag, DreamPod and Sling Jax who all donated prizes for our auctions
Tumbebe, Natural Nursery, Little Possums, Portsmouth Sling Meet, Southampton Sling Meet, Claire Westron and Sunvill Starzewska who all donated prizes for our raffle
And everyone who brought cakes along for us to sell!
Finally a big thank you to everyone who came along and gave so generously and helped us raise such a good sum of money. We hope you all enjoyed the event as much as we did!
September meet breaks hire record! September 10, 2009

We hope that everyone who took a sling home enjoys using it – please don’t forget to review it on here for the benefit of others who may not get a chance to try it out!
Our next meet takes place on October 1st, from 1-3pm at The Windmill Children’s Centre. However, don’t forget our special extra event in conjunction with Portsmouth Sling Meet this month to celebrate International Babywearing Week. We will be meeting on Monday 21st September, from 1-3pm at The Windmill Children’s Centre. There will be a chairty raffle and auction, with some fabulous prizes, and also a cake stall (do bring along some cakes to sell if you are able to). August meet the biggest yet! August 6, 2009
Posted by admin in : Uncategorized , comments closedOur August Sling Meet saw us welcoming 30 families to the Children’s Centre and helping them to try out some new slings, as well as dealing with some queries about their existing carriers. There was a lovely social atmosphere and lots of babywearing knowledge was shared between the parents who came along. We also had a record number of hires, and hope that all of you who took a sling away with you enjoy trying it out over the next month. Our next meet takes place on Monday 7th September, between 1 and 3pm. Hope to see you there!

Southampton Sling Meet celebrates International Babywearing Week 2009 July 21, 2009

We are celebrating IBW with a joint event with Portsmouth Sling Meet. We will be meeting at our usual venue, the Windmill Children’s Centre, on Monday 21st September, from 1 until 3pm. There will be a cake stall (please do bring along cakes or biscuits for us to sell) and a charity raffle/auction as well as the usual opportunity to try out a selection of slings. Please note that we may not have all of our usual slings available to try out as some may have been hired out at our September meet a few weeks earlier.
We have had some very generous donations for the charity raffle and auctions.
The prizes which will be auctioned include:
an Onbag Classic (kindly donated by Onbag)
a custom made DreamPod (kindly donated by DreamPod)
a Napsack (kindly donated by Sling Jax)
And the prizes in the raffle include:
Baby Legs (kindly donated by Tumbebe and Portsmouth Sling Meet)
Sling View mirrors (kindly donated by Southampton Sling Meet)
and money off vouchers, kindly donated by Natural Nursery, Natural Connection, Little Possums and Tumbebe.
All proceeds from the auctions, raffle and cake sale will go to Best Beginnings.
