This was the first wrap I hired. I found it brilliant once I'd got used to tying him in! He's a bit of a reluctant pickle getting him into a back carry, but once he's there, he's happy to fall asleep.
I found this wrap in particular quite warm, as it's fairly thick & summer was approaching. It also seemed a bit long for my purposes, but i guess that's just getting used to wrapping it!

I have since bought a short wrap, but intend to get a long in the not too distant future! :o)

I hired this sling for a family holiday to Centerparcs - so glad I did as it was really hilly and my 3 year old got really tired walking! My husband, my dad and I all used it and were comfortable carrying a lumpy toddler!

I really liked the padded straps as they didn't cut into my shoulders and his weight was distributed really well. The ties were long enough to be able to tie comfortably with plenty left over.

My son loved being in it too, so much so that he went and got it out himself one morning for us to carry him in! Great!

I agree and also used a Freedom unpadded ring sling. We both used it for the first four months pretty constantly in snuggle hold and kangaroo hold. We didn't and still don't really use the buggy, just into a ring sling for a quick shorter walk and another (connect baby) one for longer walks.

I succumbed to pressure from my husband and bought him and my baby a mamaway ring sling for christmas after 4 months - for the sole reason our baby is a boy and the second hand Freedom Sling is pink! The mamaway sling came in a brown and blue stripe so was considered more manly! I have noticed however that the mamaway material doesn't slip as much but isn't as lightweight so probably won't be as nice in the summer.

My husband and I have used a connecta baby carrier for our baby from 3 months to 11 months (& counting).

We chose it because it was a rucksack like clip to do up so was easy and clear to do up and adjust. We have also found grandparents and aunties find it easy to use.

We do up the waist strap and one shoulder strap and then post the baby in before doing up the other strap. This feels quite secure and you can do it standing up or sitting down.

The toddler hood is great for when our baby falls asleep as you can keep their head supported.

In the early days we used the separate strap to narrow the carrier for his little legs but now it is just used to keep it together when we aren't using it.

We have used it on the front and back and will continue to use it in the months and years to come.

I’d like to recommend the Freedom unpadded ring sling. I used it with my daughter from newborn to about 18months. It's a great value, versatile sling. Lovely, light fabric for the summer and can also be worn under a coat in the winter. The ring design is so easy to use and adjust for either parent. My daughter was an unsettled baby, and the sling was the only place that she’d be happy, snuggled up against me. If she fell asleep, I could then lay her down in her cot without waking her. And in reverse, a sleeping baby could be placed in it. I didn’t get the hang of breast feeding in the sling, but it was a useful protective piece of material for when we were in a ‘too public’ area. As she grew older, the sling then was used for hip hold, and eventually back hold, though I started to struggle with this as she got heavier, as the weight was on one shoulder. In a hip hold, I could also be hands free –as the sling help and supported her whole weight, unlike a hip carrier. This proved so useful when collecting my eldest from pre-school, or paying for things in shops. It was a breeze to get her in and out of it, so a quick car trip and into the sling was much easier than getting a buggy out. There’s a useful pocket, and it folds away neatly to fit in your bag!

This sling is very supportive for the baby and comfortable to wear. The length of it enables different wrap positions to be used (particularly if you're tall), with enough at the ends to tie.

I borrowed the napsack from the sling meet library for my holiday last summer, it came in really handy for those long walks we went. My son (10mths at the time) found it really comfortable too, so much so he fell asleep in it.

The napsack is really easy to use and very comfortable. Give it a try.

I borrowed the Babyhawk from the library and I loved it, it is so easy to use and very comfy. As per other comments you can get wet straps but it's a small sacrifice in my opinion. It came in really handy when we went to the fireworks display in the pouring rain, I carried my son on my front and we snuggled into my waterproof coat and he was not phased by the noisy fireworks at all.

I recently purchased a Toddlerhawk on the back of using the sling meets Babyhawk, I had it custom made with the minki lining and I love it. It's great for the pre-school run, normally when we are running late.

I found this design to be easy to adjust and get babies or toddlers into it without any problems front and back - with a bit of practice you can do it by yourself. It packs away quite small, so is good for walks when you don't know when your toddler might run out of energy. I have used it extensively in the UK on long walks, and has handy hood for when baby dozes off. I've used it in the Swiss mountains going up cable cars and for Zoo visits. Very good when taking an infant round London - good for the tube, much easier than a buggy. It might seem pricey, but we have got loads of use out of it. If you are a bloke and want something flexible and not too garish, then give this one a try.
