Kari Me

The Kari Me is a stretchy wrap. It can be used to carry your baby on your front, back or hip.

We have two Kari Mes in our Sling Library which were kindly donated by Kari Me.

The Kari Me is the sling I used with my son from when he was a newborn until he was about 6 months old. I loved the cuddliness of it when he was tiny. There is no fabric between you and the baby, so it really is lovely carrying them snuggled up to your chest. I also breastfed him in this whilst walking round Toys R Us!! Unfortunately I had to stop using it when he just got so heavy that he felt like he was sagging in it.

When my first son was born i was drawn in by the strap and buckle style commercial papouses you see in baby catalogues. i planned to wear my baby as much as possible but wasnt able to due to the poor design of the carrier. it gave me awfull back ache so i couldnt wear it for more than half an hour at a time. heaven knows why i didnt look into slings at the time!
when my second son was 2 months old i once again got narked off with my carrier and decided to buy a kari me after a good consultaion with debbie. i must confess that this was a godsend. once id got my head round how to wear it (it took a coupe of goes) it was a doddle and it allowed me to feed and comfort my son whilst looking after my toddler. the fabric is lovely and soft and very supportive. its streach allows you to distribute the baby weight very evenly over the body. i found i could quite literally wear my son for hours without any back pain. i found the fabric does streach more over time but once washed it goes back. if anything the fabric is a bit plain. now im a slingaholic (!) i like to see a bit of personality in the design so as much as i live my kari me its a bit plain! i think this makes a great first sling (you will buy more trust me its very addictive!). i still use it now, my son is 15 months and i back carry him. ( i need my partner to put him on my back its not something you can do on your own ). all in all a great all-rounder and well worth the money!

I have one of these (in black) and I have used it most days since I got it when my son was 2 weeks old. I do love it and wish that I had one when my daughter was a baby, it would have been a lot less hassle than lugging a buggy around. My son loves being in it and sleeps most of the time, as he is only 3mths old I still use him in the “tummy to tummy” position but am looking forward to trying out the others when he is a bit bigger. My 2 and a half year old daughter also thinks it’s great to be carried around in the “facing the world” one.

I am using a kari me at the moment and soon got used to tying it so it feels secure. I can carry my 9 week daughter without having to instinctively put a hand on her back to support her, which is what I was was doing with a front baby carrier because I was worried that the clips would slip. I don’t notice her weight when she’s in the sling (again, unlike the front carrier which made my back and shoulders ache) and I love that I haven’t got to wrestle her into bulky outdoor clothing to carry her as the sling keeps her warm and snug!!
